About Us

Mission

Birthcare is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) social service organization that provides emergency assistance and support to families with young children living in Medina County. Our main goal is striving to meet the basic needs of young children in our county assuring their safety, warmth and health. All our services are free and confidential.

History

Two local nurses founded Birthcare in 1976 in order to provide resources for families in need with young infants and children in Medina County. Over the years, Birthcare has served thousands of families by providing support and emergency assistance in the form of clothing, infant formula, food, diapers, car seats, cribs and other baby equipment. A layette program was instituted in 1992 and has provided over 1500 layettes to local hospitals. Our scholarship program began in 1997, and has awarded scholarships to 57 of our clients totaling $40,494. A board of directors guides our agency and volunteers staff our office.

Funding

Birthcare is funded by Catholic Charities, church and school groups, community groups, corporations and individuals. We apply annually to foundations for grants.
